IRK #39: Like Father, Like Son

People, I am having computer/internet issues which means I cannot easily update this web site, which means I won't be updating the sketchbook for awhile. This update is courtesy of my parents' computer. Comic updates should be unaffected, but if this site experiences another unexpected hiatus, you can assume something disastrous happened with my computer.

Anyway, click the pic below for the new comic:

Aw man, I love the sketchbook.funny I saw Would you be disappointed if IRKWORKS went on hiatus? just yesterday. I voted yes.

Yikes, you must have done a Google search for "irkworks" because no page that I know of links to that poll. I created that poll during my hey-somebody-pay-attention-to-me-or-else-I'll-quit phase.

The sketchbook will likely return when I get my home internet connection back. (I'm posting this from work.) On the other hand, I am experimenting with a daily comic strip in addition to the usual IRK comic. If that pans out, the sketchbook might have to take a backseat.

Great comic

Thank Chris of Grumps fame for giving you a plug. I'll make sure to check this site on my ritual of weekly comic checking. I love the grim humor, and the odd farside-esque stuff as well.

Re: Great comic

Chris is thanked, as are you. This is a fine time for my home computer to crap out. (I'm posting this from work.) Nonetheless, the next comic is in development. Spread the word about irkworks because, Lord knows, I'm too lazy to promote it.

I like how in the last panel you have to explicitly show the boy's arm inside his shirt, with even his fingers pointing out slightly, so readers don't get the idea that the son cut off his own arm to further imitate his father.

Yeah, that was exactly my thinking behind it. I may have overdrew the arm under the shirt, but I didn't want that detail to go unnoticed. Though it would have been funny if the kid managed to cut his arm off with a bubble-blowing, toy lawnmower. Heh.

I used to have a bubble lawnmower!

Yeah, I'll have to get one for my future kids. It would be cool if real lawnmowers spewed bubbles.

this is the funniest thing i've seen in a long time. i'll get to work on that bubble attachment for my mower.

Re: love it!

Hey, don't say "wasted." Heh, heh. Thanks for the compliment. It really makes my day.

Dad's shirt

I'm sure this was part of your plan, so I'm not trying to point things out:

So the dad managed to change his shirt with one arm. Funny. :)
